The cause of the explosion is under investigation by Plum and county law enforcement agencies and the county fire marshal’s office.

The video showed a calm view from the porch when an explosion suddenly tore through a house on the opposite side of the street. In a news conference Sunday, Plum Chief of Police Lanny Conley said the Allegheny County medical examiner had determined four adults and one adolescent child died from the explosion.
The state Public Utility Commission and local utilities also were at the scene. Three homes on Rustic Ridge Drive were leveled by the explosion, and about a dozen others were damaged, county officials said at a news conference Saturday night. In Plum, a borough in Allegheny County in western Pennsylvania just east of Pittsburgh.
